Pace Bene are the words of a Franciscan+ blessing which means ‘peace and well-being’. This website is the gathering place for the various projects that Ian Adams is involved in, each of which is dedicated to bringing about in some way peace and well-being in our local and global world. Pace Bene!
Life is an amazing thing: at times very dark, yet shining with promise. Ian is an adventurer and guide into the mystery of life, of human-being within the world. Inspired by the story and stories of Jesus of the Gospels, he is seeking out ways to live with hope, imagination and creativity in uncertain times. He wants to help people discover and make their own simple but profound actions that will help to make a better world now.
The path to a better world of ‘peace and well-being’ starts close to home, by learning to see ourselves as we truly are. Each human person has something pure, holy and divine at the core of our being. We are loved by God and carry signs of God’s beauty and goodness. Ian is on this life-long journey into true-seeing, and wants to encourage others to travel this path.
As abbot of mayBe - an emerging missional community in Oxford - and as a priest in the Church of England, Ian draws on the wisdom of the ancient Christian contemplative, mystical and monastic traditions. He is also inspired by contemporary art forms: music, film, poem and art. Amongst other things this week Ian is meeting up with representatives from the Church of Scotland who are interested in Fresh Expressions of church.

‘I believe mayBe has been a significant player in the field of innovative thinking about emerging church. The lessons learned have given Ian Adams much experience that is already being used more widely in the Church and I very much hope that Ian’s skills as a trainer and mentor will be a resource for many others. He has my strong commendation.’
